Opening Times

Our Gardens are open everyday between 10:00 to 16:00 with last admittance one hour before closing at 15:00.

Our Tearoom is open everyday from 10:30 to 15:30.

Garden Entry Day Tickets

All tickets need to be purchased online in advance to visit our Gardens.

Your ticket includes; entry to our Gardens, Menagerie, play area and free onsite parking.

You will receive an email order confirmation of your purchase.
You can gain access to the gardens by showing a mobile screen image of your Order confirmation. PayPal confirmation is also accepted as proof of purchase.

If you experience problems booking online please advise a team member on arrival to the Gardens and they will be able to assist you.

Garden Closure Notifications

Please be sure to Check our HomePage before starting your journey to us. Our HomePage will give > 2 hours forward notice of Garden Closure before Gardens Gates are closed to Visitors.

Due to the older trees in the arboretum our Gardens close if the Met Office reports wind gusts > 33 mph. This is to ensure visitors safety when visiting the Gardens.

Getting Here

Castle Ashby Gardens is located in the estate village of Castle Ashby which lies 10km east of Northampton and 2km north of the A428 from the county town to Bedford.

Free parking is available onsite, including designated parking for coaches.

Please note the nearest bus stop is approximately a two-mile walk.

Visiting Time

We would advise that you allow your group at least two to three hours for your visit to Castle Ashby Gardens. However, why not also include a trip to the Rural Shopping Yard within the village of Castle Ashby where a variety of local crafts together with a delicatessen offering delicious treats to take home can be found.


What’s Open

The Gardens, Menagerie, Tearoom, play area and toilets are open.


Our Tearoom is open everyday from 10:30 to 15:30, offering a lovely selection of cakes, drinks, and hot and cold food.


Picnics are welcome anywhere within the Gardens and a lovely way for you enjoy your day. Bring along your picnic mat/blanket and chose from an abundance of places to enjoy your picnic.

Tables in the Tearoom are reserved for Tearoom visitors only, so we ask that you do not eat your picnic at the Tearoom tables.

Play Area

Bring the whole family and enjoy our exciting outdoor children’s play area. Our play area is equipped with an array of activities to keep your children entertained.

Please note: The play area is not supervised, and parental / guardian supervision is essential for children using the equipment.


Dogs are permitted into the Gardens providing that they are walked on a lead in all areas of the formal gardens. They may run free in the Arboretum.

Guide dogs are very welcome in our Tearoom.

Group Bookings

We welcome group bookings, for groups of over 20 people you will receive a 20% discount off the adult price.

Mobility Impaired Visitors

All areas of our site are accessible by wheelchair. We have Mobility impaired toilets and extra wheelchairs if needed. Please note that our paths are made from compacted shingle, which some wheelchair users may find a little difficult.

Your accompanying Carer does not need to buy a ticket. Please bring supporting documentation to show on arrival, this can be in the form of a blue badge, DWP, PIP or DLA letter, or a letterhead communication from a registered care home.

Professional Photographs

Unfortunately we do not currently allow photo shoots, wedding photography, commercial or Professional Photographs in the Gardens, if this changes in the future we will announce it on our website.
