When should I book?

We would advise booking as early as possible. This event is popular and we will not be releasing anymore tickets once we sell out. This event is online booking only and tickets can be purchased in advance up to 72 hours before each time slot, and the Kids Spooky Lunch Boxes 1 week before the event starts.

Why have child and toddler tickets run out despite other tickets being available?

We have different types of tickets for sale, e.g. Adult, Child, Toddler, Infant. Each group is allocated a number of tickets which we call the “Ticket Allocation”. Some ticket types such as Childrens Tickets, sell out quicker than other types. If there are no tickets available then it is because we have sadly reached our allocated capacity for that ticket type.

When can I arrive?

Please arrive during your time slot indicated on your booking confirmation. This is your arrival time as chosen when purchasing a ticket.  The timeslot is there to reduce queues on entry, you can arrive anytime within your timeslot, once you have entered the Gardens you can remain for the rest of the day. Please note we have the right to refuse entry if you arrive outside your allocated timeslot.

Do I have to print my tickets ?

No, please bring a copy of your ticket on your phone and present it for entry to the gardens and trail. Please note we are a rural location and signal is not always the best so take a screen shot if you can.

How long does it take to complete the hunt ?

This varies depending on your pace, however on average I would allow an hour for the hunt, but you are welcome to stay in the Gardens for longer.

Do I have to pay for my baby ?

No. Under 1’s will be free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Under 1’s will not receive a pumpkin hunt sheet or gift if selecting this option. If you wish your infant to participate in the hunt please purchase a Toddler ticket.

What are the parking charges?

There are no additional charges for parking. On arrival please follow signage & instructions from staff. Please note that caravans, motorhomes and any other large vehicles are not permitted. Vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk.

Can I pay for the pumpkin hunt on the day ?

No, only tickets bought on-line will be accepted on the day. This is because we need to limit the number of children each day so that we are not overcrowded and do not run out of gift bags.

I don't have children, can I still visit?

All visitors are welcome at our Events. Entry charges still apply. Tickets are sold in time slots online. Please purchase in advance of your visit. Also please be aware there are a lot of children at some events such as the Pumpkin Hunt and Easter Egg hunt.

Can I change my ticket to a different day or get a refund ?

You can only amend your ticket upto 10 days before the experience starts and an admin fee of £2.50 is applied. Please click on Booking Protection at check-out. All tickets are non-refundable so please ensure you check your quantities and ticket details before purchasing.

What happens if the weather is bad?

As this event is taking place in October, some autumnal weather conditions are to be expected. The venue will remain open in reasonably wet and windy weather conditions so long as safety is not compromised. Should you wish not to attend due to weather conditions on the day, tickets cannot be moved or refunded. Our staff will continuously monitor the weather conditions and assess any potential risks to health & safety. Should they deem the weather a significant risk, the venue will close and refunds will be issued. Please check our social media channels and website before travelling, as all closures are posted here.

Can I take photos and videos during the event?

Yes, personal photography and videography is permitted during the event. We cannot control, and therefore take no responsibility, if you or any member of your party appear in another visitor’s photos or videos which are published on social media or elsewhere. If posting to social media be sure to tag us at #CastleAshbyPumpinHunt Permission from us for any photography and videography for commercial purposes must be requested and approved in writing in advance by us. From time to time, we, or an approved supplier, may wish to take photos or videos at the event for Marketing purposes. If you do not wish to appear in this, please advise us by emailing events@castleashbygardens.co.uk before your visit and make staff aware on the day. Drones are not permitted.

How accessible is the event?

All areas of our site are accessible by wheelchair. We have mobility impaired toilets and extra wheelchairs if needed. Please note that our paths are made from compacted shingle, which some wheelchair users may find a little difficult.

Are there baby changing facilities?

Yes, there are baby changing facilities located in our toilet block.

Are refreshments available?

Yes, you can find a variety of hot and cold food, snacks, sweet treats and drinks in our tearoom and pergola.

Are you able to cater for specific dietary requirements?

We are able to offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Should you have a query regarding ingredients, please speak to the catering staff for the updated allergen report.

Rules & Safety Guidelines

No pumpkins will be hidden near the waters edge. No pumpkins will be hidden out of sight in flower beds or urns. They will be clearly visible from the main path. So please do not trample over or climb on the beds and urns. For your safety, do not attempt to climb or reach the pumpkins or any other spooky characters you find. Please leave them for others to enjoy.

Please note that Castle Ashby Gardens close when wind gusts are greater than 39 mph, but we would urge visitors to always be vigilant of trees and branches in windy conditions. If we have to cancel your time slot we will provide the opportunity to book an alternative day or provide a refund.

Instead, please type in Castle Ashby Gardens or Castle Ashby Visitors Car Park into your satnav or use our What3words: ///smiled.glares.rural  Please note that Castle Ashby Gardens is located outside of the Castle Ashby Village and there are brown tourist signs directing you to Castle Ashby Gardens.
