Frequently asked questions

Do I need a PayPal account?

No, you can log on as a guest and pay by credit or debit card, however some smart phones or tablets don’t always allow you to do this if possible try using a different device such as a laptop or computer.

Do I have to pay for my baby?

No, only children that will be participating in the egg hunt need to pay for the egg hunt, babies/toddlers are free (please note only children that have booked the egg hunt receive the treats at the end)

Season ticket holders

Adult entry is free for season ticket holders, however tickets still need to be purchased online for children participating in the hunt.

Timeslot

The timeslot is there to reduce queues on entry, you can arrive anytime within your allocated time, once you have entered the Gardens you can remain for the rest of the day.

Do I have to print my tickets?

It would be beneficial if you could either print or take a screen shot of your ticket. However, it is not essential as long as you have made a note of your order number and name as it appears on your payment card/account then this is all we need to tick you off on entry. (This is hopefully easier than the system we used for the pumpkin hunt last year)

General Visitors

All visitors are welcome at the standard entry charges either payable on the day or via our online ticketing system, however please note we may be very busy.

Parking Charge

There is no additional parking charge, all visitors pay our general admission prices. All admission prices are posted on our website.

Can I pay for the Egg hunt on the day?

No, only tickets bought on-line will be excepted on the day. Due to the overwhelming popularity of last year’s egg hunt we have had to limit the amount of egg hunt tickets each day in order to provide a quality event without overcrowding. To compensate for this and avoid disappointment we have extended the event over three days, we do hope you understand our reasons for this and appreciate that we are dedicated to providing quality over quantity.

Can I change my ticket to a different day?

No, once tickets have been bought no exchanges or refunds can be processed.

How long does it take?

This varies a lot depending on your pace but on average I would allow a minimum of 1 hour for a gentle walk round. Although you could easily spend an entire morning or afternoon exploring everything that Castle Ashby has to offer.

Easter Egg Hunt
After parking your car, please proceed to one of our check-in points, where your admission ticket will be processed and you will receive your activity information. Please make sure you have your proof of purchase ready to show when reaching the check in, (either a screen shot on your phone or print out is fine) this will help us to quickly and efficiently facilitate your entry into the event. If you do not have this available then we will require your order number and name as it appears on your payment card/account. Then please make your way to the gardens where you will find the first clue. Follow the clues/arrows which will help guide you around the gardens encountering 5 egg stations along the way. Please collect just one plastic egg from each station and upon completion take them to the checkout station where you can exchange them for some tasty treats. Look out for our Easter bunny along the way.

For Your Safety
We want you to enjoy your visit, but please take care as historic sites can be dangerous. Please read the following instructions carefully to ensure your safety and that of your children.

Please be aware there are potential hidden hazards such as sunken ponds and deep water, therefore parents are advised to keep a close eye on their children at all times. For this reason, no eggs will be hidden near the water’s edge, inside urns or at height. Instead, they will be visible from the path on the designated route.
Please also refrain from attempting to get to close to the waters edge, keep off the flower beds and avoid climbing on trees, urns, walls and garden ornaments.

Please note that garden machinery maybe in operation and be mindful of any potential slips or trips due to uneven surfaces, therefore we recommend that you stay on the paths.

Lost Children
In the unlikely event that a member of your party should become lost, please report it to a member of staff. All staff will be clearly identifiable in uniform. They will then follow our safeguarding protocol and coordinate a search. The designated collection point will be outside the garden shop.

Garden and Tea Room Closure
Please note that the gardens will be closed at 5.30pm and the barriers locked, we therefore recommend that you start to make your way back to your vehicles around 5.00pm. The tea room will be open from 10.00am until 4.00pm for refreshments. You are welcome to bring picnics, however, we ask that you refrain from using the tea room tables and stick to the designated picnic areas. The tea room tables are reserved for patrons of the tea rooms only.

Please note that in the event of force majeure (conditions such as high winds), we may have to close the gardens and cancel your booking at short notice. This would be for health and safety reasons beyond our control. We therefore advise that you check our website on the day of your booking for any closure notifications. Any notifications will be posted by 9.00am.

Refunds
Please note that your tickets will be non-refundable, except under conditions of force majeure.

Thank you for your booking, we hope that you enjoy your day!
